Man hospitalized after being trapped underneath vehicle in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – A man was hospitalized after being trapped underneath a vehicle in Jones County.

According to investigators, they received a report of a man trapped underneath a vehicle on Summerland Road in the Hebron community on July 19. They said he was working underneath the vehicle when the jack failed.

When authorities arrived, they found the vehicle was crushing the man, and he was not breathing. Hebron Fire & Rescue deployed a battery powered rescue spreader and lifted the vehicle off of the victim.

Emergency services personnel performed CPR on the man, and firefighters established a landing zone for Rescue 7 Air Ambulance.

Authorities said the man was transported by EMServ to South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC) in Laurel. They said he was medically stabilize by Saturday night and was transported by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
