GLUCKSTADT, Miss. (WJTV) – The City of Gluckstadt opened the doors to its new police department on July 30.

After years of operating out of borrowed rooms at City Hall, the Gluckstadt Police Department and Municipal Court now have their own facility.

“It’s a momentous moment. It’s real. It’s very amazing. We, like I said earlier in my speech, we were working out of two offices in City Hall with about 14 of us at the time. You know, that can get pretty crowd. So, being able to come here and have our own dispatch center, our own courtroom, our own court services, and most of our officers actually have their own office,” said Gluckstadt Police Chief Barry Hale.

The new building will be used for more than day to day city use. A Safe Haven Baby Box is located at the facility, where parents can drop their baby off at a safe and secure location if they’re unable to care for it.
