RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies are searching for a missing man who went for a walk in the woods around his home.
Deputies said they received a 911 call after 10:15 p.m. on August 10 regarding a missing person in the area of Woodrow Martin Road near the Rankin County and Smith County line. They learned that Tracy Stephen Chalk had gone walking in the woods around his home. When he didn’t return, family members set out on ATVs in an attempt to find him but were unsuccessful.
According to Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, multiple Search and Rescue (SAR) assets were deployed. After a search, operations were suspended and picked back up Monday morning.
Chalk is 6’ 4” in height and 190lbs in weight. Burnell said he last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, baseball cap and Merrill brand hiking shoes. According to investigators, Chalk has been diagnosed with the early stages of dementia.
