JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jackson City Council approved the new Civil Service commissioners on August 12.

Jackson Mayor John Horhn recently announced the relaunch of the Jackson Civil Service Commission. He said the commission will resume its role in ensuring city employees are managed based on merit, efficiency, and integrity.

Horhn appointed Ronald Moore, Peyton Prospere and Onetta S. Whitley to the commission. They were approved by the City Council in a 7-0 vote.

According to the mayor, the commission oversees recruiting, evaluating, and promoting employees strictly on the basis of performance and qualifications, while upholding a comprehensive Code of Rules and Regulations in line with the Civil Service Acts.

Monthly public meetings of the Civil Service Commission will be held on the second Thursday of each month at the Andrew Jackson Conference Room in the Hood Building.
