UPDATE: Ewel “Bubba” Scott was taken into custody by authorities on Thursday morning along with recovered stolen property.

TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY, Miss. — Multiple agencies are looking for Ewel “Bubba” Scott, who is wanted in Panola County and Tallahatchie County for stealing ATVs, a tractor, a shotgun and other items.
Law enforcement covered a lot of ground on Wednesday in the search for Scott. He is wanted for burglary and grand larceny, and is believed to be in possession of a rifle and handgun.

“We do believe he is armed and dangerous, and he’s indicated to family members that he will not go back to prison,” said Major Clint Roberson of the Panola County Sheriff’s Office.
Scott, who is tied to the theft of an ATV and a “side by side” from this shed in Panola County this week managed to elude capture.
“He jumped off the ATV, ran out of his shoes and dropped a shotgun, a stolen shotgun he had, he ran off into the woods and was able to elude us the rest of the day,” said Roberson.
Scott was just released from prison on an escape charge in 2020.
“We also chased him again in 2020, April of 2020, and it took us a couple of weeks before he was able to be apprehended.”
The search for Scott covers an area between Teasdale and Enid in Tallahatchie County, close to where Scott lives.

“They’ve been on it hot and heavy. They’ve been scattered and parked everywhere trying to get him, so they’ve been working hard,” said Tiffany Sergent, Tallahatchie County.
Scott reportedly stole another ATV and a tractor and escaped deputies again on Wednesday morning.
“If you can chain something down that could be stole, chain it down,” said Major Roberson.
