JACKSON COUTNY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities announced a suspect was arrested after one person was shot and killed at Ingalls Shipbuilding on the Mississippi coast.
The shooting occurred on August 22, 2025, around 7:30 a.m.
Officials have confirmed that the suspect is 25-year-old Curtis James Jr. from Mobile and that the victim was a resident of Prichard.
The shooting was an isolated incident that happened on a ship between two employees, according to officials. They also said that an argument between the two men occurred earlier in the week. It is unknown how James was able to get the gun into the shipyard.
Police said they have not found the gun, but they know that at least two rounds were fired.
All Ingalls employees were sent home for the day and will be paid.
