SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — There are more calls for answers following the death of a comedian Reginald Carroll, who was shot and killed last week at a home in Southaven.
Friends of Carroll’s say the suspect, Tranell Williams, 38, had at one point been working security for well-known comedian Katt Williams. Carroll had also been touring with Katt Williams.
Now we’re learning the home on Burton Lane where police say the shooting happened is also affiliated with Katt Williams.
A property management company sent a notice to those who live at the home, stating they have to leave because of the shooting. One of those listed as a receiver is a merchandise company for Katt Williams’ apparel.
Those we’ve talked to say the death of 52-year-old Reggie Carroll still doesn’t seem real.
Fellow comedian Cookie Hull also toured with Katt Williams in 2008. She knew Reggie Carroll for years.
“Reggie was so loved because his energy was never negative. He never was a negative person, he’s always smiling, he’s always happy,” said Hull.
People we talked to say Carroll, originally from Baltimore, was in Southaven because he’s been touring with Katt Williams.
Outside the home Tuesday there was a discarded couch. We also spotted cleaning supplies.
A notice from a property management company has notified those at the home they have 14 days to get out because of the recent shooting, saying they’re in violation of the lease agreement.
The notice was addressed to Tranell Williams and other names, but also Onyxx Owll LLC. A quick Google search shows that is the official site of Katt Williams merchandise.
Hull hopes more information about what happened is released soon and wants Katt Williams to address Reggie Carroll’s death.
“People want answers, they want to know what happened to Reggie Carroll and I wanna know and several of my comedy friends. We want to know what happened,” Hull said. “Can you put some closure on what happened? And for you not to speak and not say anything? People are saying, ‘Well maybe his lawyer told him not to or whatever, no, that’s not how we work in this community.”
We have filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the arrest affidavit in this case.
We’ve also reached out to multiple people listed to be associated with Katt Williams but so far have not heard back.
