GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WKRG) — Two Lucedale residents have been arrested after leading George County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase.

According to a release from the GCSO, deputies attempted to stop a car driving on Don Barton Road on Thursday, Aug. 28, at around 1 a.m.

The driver did not stop, leading deputies on a 30-minute pursuit, while a passenger was reportedly throwing items out of the window. After spike strips were successfully deployed, the car came to a stop.

Michael H. Sutton, 43, was identified as the driver, while Michelle L. Hile, 42, was identified as the passenger. After searching the vehicle, deputies recovered multiple firearms, controlled substances, jewelry, and coins, the release said.

Hile was charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Both were taken to the George County Regional Correctional Facility, waiting to appear before a George County Justice Court Judge.

“I am extremely satisfied and thankful for the outstanding efforts of our Deputies, Narcotics
Division, and Investigators. They have been doing an exceptional job in working together to
keep dangerous criminals, drugs, and weapons off our streets,” Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said. “I want to give a special thank you to each of them for their dedication and commitment to protecting the citizens of George County.”

The George County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics are investigating the case.
