JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A driver died after a vehicle crashed during a chase in Jackson, authorities said.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said officers were traveling in the area of Northside Drive just after 9:15 p.m. on September 1, 2025, when they witnessed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Martin said the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield and led officers on a brief chase.

The driver wrecked the vehicle on Northside Drive and sustained fatal injuries, according to Martin. The driver has not been identified.

The crash will be investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP).
