VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Vicksburg police said a suspect was arrested after a man was shot and killed at a gas station.
The shooting occurred at Waleed’s Food Mart in the 3600 block of Wisconsin Avenue on August 31, 2025.
Vicksburg Deputy Chief Tommy Curtis said an altercation between the victim and the suspect led to shots being fired. He said the victim, 31-year-old Melvin Harris, died from his injuries.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Troy Williams, Jr., 26. He was arrested without incident.

Williams appeared in court on September 2, 2025, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder. His bond was set at $2 million.
