VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Vicksburg police announced a woman was charged with kidnapping and rape.

On September 20, 2025, officers responded to the 1000 block of Urban Court around 9:15 p.m. after receiving a call about a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they said Shakhai Galvin, 22, pushed her girlfriend to the rear of the home. During an interview with Galvin and her girlfriend, police said they discovered that Galvin had held her girlfriend against her will and had assaulted her.

Galvin was arrested at the scene, and the victim was transported to Merit Health River Region for treatment.

On September 22, 2025, Galvin appeared in court for her initial appearance on the charges of kidnapping and rape. Her bond was set at $150,000.
