RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies announced a man was arrested after investigators found multiple stolen vehicles, chainsaws and firearms.

On October 13, 2025, deputies responded to an area near Shell Oil Road for a possible stolen vehicle. They said a stolen white Ford F-250 was located at a nearby residence. The truck had been reported as stolen to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office in August 2025.

Investigator Tyler Burnell said deputies made contact with Steve Frederick Nieburg, 35, who was detained after he was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for the location, and Burnell said they found additional stolen vehicles on the property, which displayed altered Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN).

The stolen vehicles included a Toyota Tacoma that was reported stolen in July 2025, a 2017 Toyota Camry that was reported stolen in 2022 and a 1992 Toyota Tacoma. Burnell said the 1992 Toyota Tacoma had already been disassembled. Deputies also reported a stolen 2019 car hauler style trailer.

Burnell said investigators located multiple stolen Stihl chainsaws that were taken from a power line company in Alabama. He said multiple firearms were also found inside the residence that are believed to be stolen through a house burglary within the City of Pearl.

Nieburg was charged with four counts of receiving/possession of stolen property, three counts of violation of Mississippi Chop Shop, Stolen, Altered Property Act, possession of methamphetamine with a firearm and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
