RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Reservoir police said shots were fired into a woman’s vehicle during a road rage incident.

The shooting occurred at the Spillway Road and Old Fannin Road intersection around 9:00 p.m. on October 26, 2025.

According to police, the woman was traveling westbound on Spillway Road when someone pulled up beside her and fired a shot into her vehicle. The woman received minor injuries.

Police said the suspect was arrested Monday afternoon in Madison after he was spotted eating at a local restaurant. Walter Dennis Ainsworth, 43, of Florence, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and drive-by shooting into an occupied vehicle.
