UPDATE:
SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Forrest County deputies said they recovered a kidnapped infant Sunday morning after a Missing/Endangered Child Alert was issued.
Deputies said the six-month-old was taken from her mother while she was shopping in Walmart on Highway 49 in Magee. They said the suspect, 55-year-old James Johnson, of Gulfport, took the baby to his ex-wife’s house in Petal and asked his stepson to drive him to the coast.

Deputies said the young man’s mother called and told him the baby had been kidnapped, so he stopped at the Circle K in Brooklyn and altered the clerk, who called Forrest County deputies.
The baby was taken to a local hospital for a checkup. Johnson was booked under ‘fugitive other jurisdiction’ on a kidnapping charge out of Magee.
