JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) – The City of Jackson’s water system is still recovering from last week’s freezing temperatures.

JXN Water crews are working to fix ruptured pipes and water main breaks across the city.

On Monday, part of J.R. Lynch Street was closed for repairs, and drivers had to take alternative routes.

Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School is located off of Hattiesburg Street in Jackson. Officials said they try to prepare for issues, but it can be difficult.

“When you aren’t sure of if you are going to have water or not and having to inform parents that. Hey, you know, I can’t predict what the water’s going to be like, but if I have to if I come to work and the water is off, then unfortunately you have to make last minute changes to dropping your students off,” said Principal Christopher Payne.

There is no set timeline on when the repairs will be complete. On Sunday, JXN Water officials said the system was showing signs of stabilization.
