SMITH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Smith County deputies arrested a school district employee at Raleigh High School.

Smith County Sheriff Joel Houston said on January 23, 2024, deputies conducted a K9 search in the parking lot of the high school, which resulted in the arrest of Boyd Nichols Hillman, Jr., who is an employee of the Smith County School District.

Hillman was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and transported to Smith County Jail.

On January 24, Hillman’s bond was set for $50,000 by Smith County Justice Court Judge.

Houston said it is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no evidence of Hillman distributing narcotics.

WJTV 12 News reached out to the school district. Officials at the superintendent’s office said they can’t release a statement because it’s a personnel matter.
