HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Mississippi troopers are investigating after a two-vehicle crash killed a 36-year-old woman.

The crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 28 on Interstate 55 North near the 84-mile marker in Hinds County.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 2013 Ford Fiesta was traveling north on the interstate when it collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, who was identified as 36-year-old Heather Kacarka, of Wesson, received fatal injuries from the crash. Officials said she was pronounced deceased at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
