One killed in shooting on State Street in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was killed after a shooting on State Street in Jackson.

According to investigators, officers in the area heard gunshots Monday evening. They found a vehicle had come to rest across the railroad tracks. A deceased person, who was identified as Anthony Davis was inside the vehicle.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said two vehicles were traveling on State Street, with the suspects possible firing shots at each other.

According to investigators, Davis was shot in the crossfire by the suspects driving a black in color Chrysler 300 and a black in color Kia Sonata.

Wade said an officer chased a suspect, but the officer lost the individual.
