Jackson police search for man wanted in May 2023 shooting

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are searching for a 24-year-old man in connection to a shooting that happened in May 2023.

Police said the victim was shot in the area of McFadden Road and McDowell Road on May 22, 2023.

According to investigators, the victim was shot while attempting to flee from gunfire. He veered off the roadway and hit a tractor trailer.

The victim told officers that he was shot by Syhee Phillips because of a prior altercation. Police said Phillips is wanted for aggravated assault.

Police said Phillips is also a person of interest in the homicide that happened Friday, January 26, 2024, on Ellis Avenue.
