HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – A woman has been sentenced in connection to a murder-for-hire plot in Hattiesburg.
Forrest and Perry counties District Attorney Lin Carter announced that Shameka Hall was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison. She was convicted of attempted capital murder.
A judge ordered Hall to serve 25 years in prison. After serving those 25 years, Hall will have to remaining 15 years of her sentences suspended while on parole.
In November 2022, Hattiesburg police received information that Hall was orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot to kill Ariunna Myers by hiring a hitman in the local area. Detectives discovered Hall had met with a hitman several times between August 3, 2022, and November 18, 2022.

Police said Hall created fake social media accounts to track Myers and that she wanted to personally participate in the murder. Investigators said Hall contacted the hitman because Myers was in a current relationship with Hall’s ex-boyfriend.
Hall was arrested by Hattiesburg police before the murder could take place.
