BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – A video showed a teenager, who goes to Northwest Rankin High School, being attacked by several other teenagers last weekend.
Kyle Folse said his son, 15-year-old Ashtynn Folse, went to Shiloh Park on Friday, February 2 with a friend.
“The story is my son was picked up at 9:00 p.m. with the attentions of hanging out with a girl. And, you know, went to the park, and he was greeted with a large group of children from opposing high school. He did not know any of these kids. First thing that happened is they take his phone and then that’s when the attack apparently starts,” he said.
Ashtynn’s father said he son is doing fine now, and he was able to protect himself during the attack.
“And he had some scrapes on his knees. He’s he’s a little sore on his side,” said Folse.
He said his son has been a wrestler since he was six-years-old and knew how to defend himself.
“I don’t want to see any revenge taken out. Let’s just let due process take its place, run its course. And I do believe that God is in control of the situation,” Folse stated.
Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said his department responded to the fight. The juveniles involved were charged with simple assault, and one girl was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
“We responded to a report of a fight at Shiloh Park, investigated the fight, and parents of the victim filed charges against other juveniles that were involved in the fight,” explained French.
