Jackson police search for 16-year-old wanted in fatal shooting

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are searching for a 16-year-old suspect after one person was killed and another was injured during a shooting.

The shooting happened in the 100 block of Covington Park Drive on Friday, February 9.

The victim, who was identified as Jadamian Marquez Nichols, was shot once and died at the scene. Investigators said another victim was shot and transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.

Deputy Chief Sequerna Banks said warrants have been issued for the arrest of 16-year-old Jordan Long. He will be charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Banks said detectives are working to identify additional suspects and more arrests are expected in this case.
