Jackson police arrest 16-year-old wanted in fatal shooting

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police arrested a 16-year-old suspect after one person was killed and another was injured during a shooting.

Deputy Chief Sequerna Banks said Jordan Long, 16, was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault.

He was wanted in connection to a shooting that happened in the 100 block of Covington Park Drive on Friday, February 9.

The victim, who was identified as Jadamian Marquez Nichols, was shot once and died at the scene. Investigators said another victim was shot and transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.

Banks said detectives are working to identify additional suspects and more arrests are expected in this case.
