Jackson police said Glover hit Officer Anthony Johnson with a vehicle on Friday. Johnson is the leader of the Jackson Police Department’s (JPD) Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) unit.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said Johnson and other officers were responding to a call about a mental health subject in the parking lot of Merit Health Central. They said Glover was refusing to leave the location. When Johnson arrived at the location, Glover hit him with a vehicle.

According to the police chief, the other responding officers fired shots at Glover, who was not hit.

Wade said Johnson was being treated at Merit Health Central. Police said Johnson was later released from the hospital on Friday.

Glover was later arrested on Westover Drive. A WJTV 12 News crew was at the scene when the suspect was taken into custody.

Police believe Glover was suffering from a mental episode.

Police said Glover has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault against a police officer and one count of felony fleeing.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
