HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The decision about renovations to the Hinds County Courthouse were delayed on Tuesday due to not enough supervisors being present for the board meeting.

Supervisors Tony Smith, Deborah Butler-Dixon and Bobby McGowan were not present at the monthly meeting due to various reasons.

Discussions about updating the historic courthouse have been taking place for several months. The courthouse is in need of repairs. Parts of the ceiling have fallen, there are cracks in the walls, and there is water damage.

“We’re going to discuss the courthouse, and we’re going to make sure that we try to get things moving forward, as far as making sure that we have enough votes to get it passed and get the repairs done on the Hinds County Courthouse,” said Board President Robert Graham, District 1.

The Hinds County Board of Supervisors will reconvene on Wednesday.
