JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Hinds County Board of Supervisors honored the Sonic Boom of the South during their meeting on Tuesday.
County officials showered Jackson State University’s (JSU) band with appreciation and adoration for how they help shine a positive light on the talent in the capital city, as well as the state.
The Sonic Boom of the South performed with Usher during the Super Bowl halftime show this year.
Some band members accompanied Dr. Roderick Little, the band director, to accept the county’s token of appreciation.
“Preparing for the Super Bowl was was definitely a tall task, but it’s something that our students took on gleefully. You know, in Sonic Boom of the South, we believe in excellence. And so, we didn’t do anything that we normally wouldn’t do,” said Little.
The Sonic Boom of the South is now preparing for the 136th Rose Parade in 2025.
