NATCHEZ, Miss. (WJTV) – American Queen Voyages, which operations river cruise boats, ceased all operations as of Tuesday, February 20.

The Natchez Democrat reported the company also canceled all future voyages.

The shutdown comes days after a spokesperson said the company had suspended its cruises in the lower Mississippi River, but they expected those cruises to resume in March 2024.

The newspaper reported American Queen Voyages operates the American Queen, the American Countess and the American Duchess on the Mississippi River.

According to the company’s website, they have been unable to rebound from the effects of the pandemic. As a result, they became financially unsustainable.

“We are deeply proud of our crew and the outstanding travel experiences and service we have provided to our guests. As we reflect on the journey we have shared over the years, we are filled with gratitude for the privilege of serving our guests, partners and agents and for being part of our incredible local communities,” officials said.

They are offering refunds for passengers who booked voyages.

American Cruise Lines and Viking Cruises also dock in Natchez.
