JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are investigating after a man was critically injured during a shooting.
Detective Tommie Brown said two men were driving in a vehicle on Northside Drive near Sunset Drive around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27 when a dark colored vehicle pulled up beside them. He said the suspect(s) began firing shots at the victims’ vehicle.
The driver in the victims’ vehicle was shot multiple times. Brown said the victims pulled over on Northside Drive near an auto body shop where the injured driver got into the backseat of his Ford F-150. The passenger in the victims’ vehicle started driving while calling police.
The injured victim was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) where he was rushed into surgery. He was listed in critical condition.
The passenger, who was uninjured, was taken to Jackson Police Department (JPD) headquarters where he told detectives that he did not know the motive for the shooting.
