JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson firefighters responded to a large fire at a building near Iron Horse Grill.

The fire started just before 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27 at a building between West Pearl Street and West Pascagoula Street, directly across from Iron Horse Grill.

A portion of the east wall of the building collapsed into a parking lot, and a portion of the north wall collapsed onto West Pearl Street.

Andy Nesenson, the general manager of Iron Horse Grill, said the building was vacant.

“Obviously, it was a great concern of ours because the the wind coming out of the south is as much as it is. Obviously, it was blowing smoke and embers right on our building, so that was obviously a great concern,” Nesenson said at the time of the fire.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

WJTV 12 News reached out to the Jackson Fire Department (JFD) for more information, and we are waiting to hear back.

Crews responded to the scene again on Wednesday after the fire rekindled.

According to the Facebook page for Iron Horse Grill, the restaurant will open at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28. Customers should enter from the Capitol Street entrance if Pearl Street is still blocked.
