CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities arrested a man after a fatal house fire in northeast Mississippi.

The fire happened on December 23, 2023, at a home in the 900 block of Highway 245 in Okolona.

Officials with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office said firefighters discovered a body inside the home. The victim was later identified as Danny Davis.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office worked together to find a suspect in the case.

On February 28, 2024, authorities announced they arrested Joe Willie Wren, Jr., in connection to the case. He was charged with capital murder and is being held without bond at the Chickasaw County Jail.
