NATCHEZ, Miss. (WJTV) – A Natchez man was arrested on a DUI charge after authorities said he crashed into a utility pole and knocked out power to residents.

The Natchez Democrat reported Jerry Sampson, 33, was charged by the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) with a first-offense DUI. He was booked into the Adams County Jail on a $500 bond.
The crash happened at the intersection of old U.S. 84 and U.S. 61 North in Adams County around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5.
According to the newspaper, Entergy Mississippi reported nearly 300 outages after the utility pole was hit. The power was restored on Wednesday, March 6.
