JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade and Festival is right around the corner!

The Jackson tradition brings people from all over the state to celebrate culture and enjoy some fun festivities. This year’s theme is “Telling the Mississippi Story,” and WJTV 12 News’ Walt Grayson is the grand marshal of the parade.

Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey said his department is working with several law enforcement groups to ensure everything runs smoothly. He urged attendees to arrive early to avoid traffic jams.

“I always tell you that for these larger events, if you don’t need it, you don’t bring it. You know, if you have something in your vehicles of value, something that somebody else might tuck away somewhere else, keep it out of sight. We don’t want to try to leave anything somebody could walk past and see that they want to try to take it,” Luckey said.

Officials with Visit Jackson said they expect to see an economic impact of more than $3 million.
