MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Three suspects are in custody after two chases in Madison County.

On Saturday, March 9, a Madison police officer attempted to stop a silver 2006 Chevrolet Silverado around 6:00 p.m. Investigators said the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Jackson.

Police said the vehicle fled from officers. After taking the Sowell Road exit, the vehicle turned north onto Old Jackson Road where it entered the ditch area and made a U-turn. Police said the suspects’ vehicle almost hit an officer, who was getting out of his vehicle.

The vehicle later wrecked on Highway 51 just south of Nissan Parkway. Police said the two suspects ran away from the scene with rifles in their possession.

After a brief chase, police arrested 21-year-old JW Clayton III, of Jackson. Police said they located one of the rifles after Clayton’s arrest. He was booked and charged with receiving stolen property (felony), felony fleeing, conspiracy to commit a crime (felony), and possession of marijuana (misdemeanor).

Around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, a passerby said they observed a man get into a silver Honda Accord on Highway 51 just south of the first incident. The passerby notified police.

Gluckstadt police located the vehicle and attempted to stop the Accord, which led to a second chase. The vehicle led officers on a chase into Jackson, where they lost site of the vehicle. Through an investigation, officers identified 20-year-old Anthony Demetric Thomas and the other occupant was identified as 20-year-old Tyler Devon Myles, both of Jackson.

On Tuesday, March 12, police said Thomas turned himself into the Madison Police Department where he was booked and charged with felony fleeing, conspiracy to commit a crime (felony), and accessory after the fact (felony).

Around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, multiple law enforcement agencies arrested Myles at a Jackson home. Police said they located the silver Honda Accord at the location and recovered the vehicle.

Myles was booked and charged with receiving stolen property, felony fleeing, conspiracy to commit a crime (felony), and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
