JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police arrested two teenagers in connection to a fatal shooting at Sykes Park in 2023.

Detective Tommie Brown said Josh Williams, 16, and Janiyah Williams, 17, were both arrested on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. They were charged with capital murder.

Investigators said the victim, 26-year-old Markell Brown, was shot in the 500 block of Sykes Road on August 2, 2023. His vehicle was also stolen.

Brown said the victim died from his injuries at the scene.
