COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The State Route 28 bridge over the Pearl River at the Copiah/Simpson County line has been closed until further notice.

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) said a truck struck the bridge on Wednesday, March 20.

MDOT crews shut down the bridge until it is fully inspected and repaired.

During the closure, motorists should seek an alternate route, including State Route 27 south to U.S. 84 east, to State Route 13 north back to State Route 28.
