Louisiana man accused of killing Greyhound bus passenger in Mississippi

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Louisiana man has been arrested for allegedly killing another passenger on a Greyhound bus in Mississippi.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said the incident happened on Interstate 10 in Jackson County around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24.

Martin said the Greyhound bus was traveling east on I-10 when 26-year-old Rashad Price, of Slidell, Louisiana, fatally shot 25-year-old Jay Jackson, of Decatur, Georgia.

Price allegedly told the driver to stop, so he could exit the bus. According to investigators, the driver then drove to the nearest exit and called 911. No other passengers were injured in the incident.

Jackson County deputies observed Price running across the interstate around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25. He was arrested with no further incident.

Price has been charged with homicide, according to Martin.

Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating the fatal shooting. They will share their findings with the local District Attorney’s office.
