JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson woman is expected to be okay after a large tree fell on her car amid Monday’s powerful winds.

The woman was driving on Hanging Moss Circle around 10:30 p.m. to pick up her mother from work. The tree caused extensive damage, breaking the back windshield, causing dents and cracking several windows.

Traffic is being rerouted as crews work to clear the fallen tree and debris from the road.

The driver’s father, Jimmy Luckitt, she he was relieved his daughter was not harmed.

“It was just kind of scary, you know, get a car like that, you just never know what happens. I’m glad she was okay. She was supposed to be out late at night anyway, but I’m glad she’s all right,” he said.
