BYRAM, Miss. (WJTV) – A man, who’s known as “Pistol Pete,” will remain in custody without bond.
Peter James Hauck made his initial appearance in court on Wednesday, March 27.
Police said Hauck shot a man in the leg at a home on Turtle Road on Friday, March 22. According to investigators, Hauck and the victim were previously roommates.
Police said the two men were arguing before the shooting happened. The victim was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson to be treated for his injury.
Hauck was arrested on Saturday, March 23 in Rankin County with assistance from Richland police and Rankin County deputies. He has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Hauck’s next court appearance has been scheduled for April 19, 2024.
