Man accused of terrorizing South Jackson with kidnappings, armed robberies

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade released additional information about the man who was arrested and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Detective Tommie Brown said officers began investigating the case on Tuesday, March 19 in the 2300 block of McFadden Road.

Investigators learned that the suspect robbed and kidnapped the victims. He was identified as Steven Jones, 24.

According to Wade, Jones was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

  • 1 count of auto theft
  • 8 counts of armed robbery
  • 2 counts of armed robbery of a business
  • 3 counts of kidnapping
  • 1 count of carjacking
  • 1 count of aggravated assault.

Wade said Jones terrorized South Jackson by putting people in the trunk of their vehicles and taking them to ATMs to withdraw money.

The police chief credited the ACTION Team for the arrest of Jones.
