JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One man was killed and another person was injured after being shot inside a vehicle in Jackson.

The shooting happened on Thursday, April 4 on State Street near Presto Lane.

Detective Tommie Brown said one of the victims was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. He was identified as 23-year-old Jesua Chaves.

According to Brown, 43-year-old Alejandro Contreras was arrested and charged with murder and child endangerment.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said Contreras was charged with child endangerment because he had a five-year-old child in his car.
