MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Mississippi man is now in jail after deputies say he was involved in the death of an infant in Lafayette County last month.

Matthew Brown is charged with capital murder.

On March 22, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding an unresponsive infant boy on County Road 520. When they arrived they began to perform life-saving measures.

The baby was then taken to Baptist Hospital for further medical attention where he later died.

During the investigation, deputies say Brown was arrested and charged in connection to the infant’s death on April 4.
