JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – People in North Jackson lost power overnight. Some people were stuck inside their homes because fallen trees blocked roadways.
Some neighborhoods near Jackson Academy experienced damage because of the strong winds and heavy rain.
“It got extremely intense, only probably 10, 15 minutes. But that 10 or 15 minutes was incredibly intense. Water slamming against the windows, debris flying everywhere, that kind of thing. So, we wake up and of course, the electricity went out. We woke up this morning, and we’re shut this whole area apart,” said Joel Travelstead, a neighbor.
Impassable roads made it more difficult for crews to start the cleanup process. Some neighbors worked to tarp their roofs before the next wave of weather moved in.
