JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Several Jackson residents are still cleaning up after this week’s storms.

Powerlines and trees are still down along Hickory Ridge Road. Neighbors in the area said they’re trying to best to look at the bright side.

“I feel bad for anybody that goes through an inconvenience of disaster, nature, or anything. Overall, like I say it could’ve been worse. Because I been here in this place for 50 years, and I have seen worse where trees have fallen through here and power outages and the whole nine yards. But overall I believe God has been gracious to Jackson,” said James Moore, a neighbor.

Other neighbors have been gracious, as well. Carlos Collier used his time to help those in need.

“Just cleaning up the debris. Trying to get the driveway and the walkway cleared up so cars won’t be messed up and everything,” Collier said.

Jackson’s Public Works Department said crews are working to clear Hickory Ridge Road and other areas in the city.
