LAKE CAROLINE, Miss. (WJTV) – Residents in Lake Carolina are awaiting the next move as developers withdrew plans for the Stribling Market gas station.

For months, Lake Caroline residents have been voicing their frustrations with the proposed gas station at the entrance of their neighborhood.

They received a letter in the mail from the president of Lake Caroline, Inc., Mark Jordan, stating that the developer would halt plans for now, so the land could be properly zoned.

“I think it is to appease people. We’re upset, and he’s trying to calm it down. It’s not going to be calm down. As a matter of fact, this goes beyond Jordan Town here. He’s wanting to make it goes back to the Board of Supervisors. This could not happen without the Board of Supervisors making bad decisions,” said Robin Hodges, who lives in Lake Caroline.

An informational meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on May 13 at The Mermaid Café, according to the letter sent by Jordan.

“You know, I think it’s great that Mark’s actually going to show up now. He didn’t show up at any of the previous meetings that the planning and zoning or the Board of Supervisors, nor did he have a representative,” said Robert DeCoster, who lives in Lake Caroline.
