MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced there will be temporary overnight lane closures on Interstate 55 in Madison County.

The work will take place on both I-55 bridges over U.S. 51 and the CNIC Railroad. Crews will perform a hybrid polymer concreate overlay as part of ongoing bridge repair work.

Officials said the work will take place overnight from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23. Work is also scheduled to take place over the weekends of June 1 and June 8, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday each weekend.

During operating hours, MDOT officials said drivers should anticipate moderate delays at peak travel times. Digital message boards are currently in place to alert drivers of the potential delays.
