Gulfport teen charged with 2 counts of capital murder

GULFPORT, Miss. (WJTV) – Gulfport police arrested a 17-year-old and charged him with two counts of capital murder.

Police said Lawrence Corley IV was arrested on Wednesday, May 15.

According to investigators, the shooting happened in the 800 block of 27th Street just after 8:45 p.m. on Monday, May 13. When officers arrived on the location, they found Temi Lawal deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police said another shooting victim, Lorenzo Stennis, was transported to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. They said he died from his injuries.

During their investigation, Gulfport police determined an armed robbery was planned by Corley, Lawal, and Stennis. They said due to Corley’s knowledge and involvement in the armed robbery, which ended with the deaths of both Lawal and Stennis, Corley was charged with two counts of capital murder.

Corley was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. His bond was set at $2 million.
