CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – A teenager has died after being pulled from the pool at the Clinton Branch YMCA.

The incident happened in the early evening hours on Sunday, May 19.

LeRoy Falcon, Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan YMCAs of Mississippi, said lifeguards came to the aid of the boy and began resuscitation efforts. EMTs took over care when they arrived at the scene.

The Hinds County coroner identified the victim as 15-year-old Jonas Pippins.

“We were devastated to learn that despite the best efforts of the lifeguards and emergency responders, the young man passed away. Our entire Y family is deeply saddened by this situation. Our thoughts and prayers remain with this young man, his family and friends, as well as those who came to his aid,” said Falcon.

He said they’re conducting an internal review to learn the facts about what happened in this incident.
