JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction of a man sentenced in connection to the death of a Jackson rapper.

Antoine Carr appealed his conviction, arguing that the state committed prosecutorial misconduct during its closing arguments. However, the court ruled that they found no “reversible error.” Carr’s conviction and sentence were upheld.

In May 2022, Carr was found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Lonnie Taylor, also known as Lil Lonnie. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).

The shooting happened in Jackson on April 19, 2018. Police found Taylor inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

In April 2019, Monya Davis and Carr were both arrested in Texas. Marshun Carr was also later arrested in Texas in connection to the case.

Davis was also found guilty and convicted in the case. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2021, and his appeal was also denied.

Marshun Carr was convicted and sentenced to 18 years in MDOC custody.
