Three injured in separate Canton shootings

CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Canton police are investigating two separate shootings that injured three men.

Canton Police Chief Otha Brown said the first shooting happened around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27 on Harrington Drive off of King Ranch Road. Two men, believed to be in their 20s, were shot multiple times while playing pool in the carport of a home.

Brown said the suspect is a Black male who was wearing a ski mask.

The victims, Dequan Williams and Kontavious Mack, were transported by a private vehicle to a Madison County hospital and then transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson.

The police chief said the second shooting happened around 4:45 p.m. at Cypress Meadow Apartments on Canal Street. The victim, 22-year-old Jeremy Anderson, was shot multiple times in the parking lot. Brown said this was a drive-by shooting.

According to Brown, Anderson was transported by a private vehicle to a Madison County hospital and was later airlifted to UMMC.

The police chief said there are currently no suspects in the two shootings.
