MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction of the man who was sentenced in connection to a Ridgeland home invasion.
Jordan Collins, of Jackson, was convicted in the Madison County Circuit Court for kidnapping,
armed robbery, armed carjacking, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, and
conspiracy to commit armed robbery for a home invasion.
On appeal, Collins claimed the trial court abused its discretion by admitting evidence of crimes committed in Hinds County, not admitting evidence of the assault on Collins by two witnesses in jail and refusing to instruct the jury on the lesser offenses of accessory after the fact to kidnapping and accessory after the fact to armed robbery.
The Mississippi Court of Appeals determined that the trial court did not abuse its discretion by admitting evidence of the Hinds County crime against Collins. They also said the trial court was within its discretion in not admitting evidence of the assault on Collins in jail and in refusing Collins’ lesser-related-offense jury instructions.

In September 2022, a judge sentenced Collins to serve a total of 40 years for the various offenses. Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney John K. Bramlett said Collins was the final suspect of six to be sentenced in the case.
According to Bramlett, the suspects plotted to rob an elderly couple living in the Country Club of Jackson and their adult son who resided in Ridgeland.
